The Prophet's Lament
Live Performance
The Prophet’s Lament is a performance work exploring the fractured relationship between humanity and the natural world. The piece presents a ritual in which music, dance and poetry together create a ceremonial atmosphere. Within this setting, the body becomes a medium for communicating with the environment.
The work reflects on how humanity’s desire to control and exploit nature has cut off the possibility of dialogue between humans and the natural world.
Nature is the soul of all things, woven together in harmony. Yet humanity has long forgotten this ancient bond, reducing nature to a mere tool - an object to conquer, a force to bend its will. A lone prophet makes one final attempt to restore the balance that once was.
In this ritual, she offers herself as a sacrifice to nature. The musician seeks to awaken its resonance through melody, while the dancer pleads for a response through movement. But no gods answer. No revelation, no salvation-only silence.
She finally understands: humanity's obsession with dominion, its greed for control and exploitation, has severed the ancient connection.
Despair fills her heart. She knows she cannot stop what is to come. And so, she chooses to depart, leaving the future in the hands of mankind.
The ritual's end brings not the descent of the divine, but a requiem for a world that has lost all hope.
