Filial Piety First

Digital Spatial Environment

This project explores the logic of filial piety in traditional Chinese society and its influence on social structure. Drawing from The Twenty-Four Filial Exemplars, it examines how cultural values centred on obedience and generational hierarchy shape social expectations.

The project constructs a speculative digital environment using 3D modelling. Abstract spheres represent individuals, whose size and colour correspond to their position within a hierarchical structure. The resulting spatial simulation reveals how individuals are reduced to functional units within a cultural system that prioritises duty and generational authority.
